Why you should elect Don Woodstock

A dreamer is someone who sits with a Wish List of what things ought to be, while wishing that things will change for the best without any clear plan-of-action simply because it feels good, sounds good or thinks it’s good for folks around them.  Action is everything!!  Some candidates have never sat through a Council Meeting.  Some candidates have never advocated for any issue they are passionate about.  Yet, they expect to go to City Hall, for the first time, and defend the interests of the residents of St. Charles Ward which includes Crestview, Westwood, St. Charles and parts of St. James-Assiniboia.  This to me is only a classic tale of a Dreamer’s Paradise.

 

It’s time we wake up!

 

Mr. Grant Nordman for the past 4 years has voted YES to increasing property taxes which are a burden on all families, especially the fixed income ones.   This is a clear indication what he WILL DO in the next 4 years.  Like Greg Selinger, Grant Nordman went back on his promise to NOT VOTE on raising property taxes – but he LIED, LIED, LIED!    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iy_0QjdtUBg

 

He also is aware that the Mayor was sued for Conflict of Interest by Joe Chan.  Yet, kept quiet on the matter of his brother, Greg Nordman and the company he works for, having the City of Winnipeg’s Contract for coffee and vending services.   As Speaker of Council and Acting Deputy Mayor did Mr. Nordman give his brother any preferential treatment on securing this contract?

EXCERPTS FROM CONFLICT OF INTEREST FOR A COUNCILLOR – off 311 Site

(I) the general nature of any contract or other pecuniary transaction entered

into at any time after the coming into force of this Act between the

municipality and

(i) the councillor or any of his dependants, or

(ii) any corporation referred to in clause (c), or

(iii) any partnership in which the councillor or any of his dependants is

a partner, but excluding

(iv) any such contract or other pecuniary transaction entered into

before the councillor was first elected to the council, and

(v) any such contract or other pecuniary transaction disclosed in any

previous statement filed under section 9, and

(vi) any transaction in which the councillor or any of his dependants is

presumed under 4 not to have a direct or indirect pecuniary

interest.

In my opinion, Mr. Nordman is NOT CAPABLE of keeping his word, NOT CARING for seniors and young families, and his only COMMITMENT was to follow Mayor Sam Katz in raising property taxes.  All of this you know he will DO again.

It’s time we ask all candidates, including myself – What have you done for our City, our Youth, and our Seniors in the last 5-10 years?  The candidate with more action than talk is the one who needs to be a part of the new administration at City Hall.
